Our Story

When Losing a Four-Legged Friend...

Only animal lovers understand the deep pain we experience when one of our beloved pets passes away. Only animal lovers can really feel the empathy we need within the days, weeks and sometimes even months after our pet has passed.

Raising a four-legged child (or any other, all pets are accepted here) was the best decision we ever made. But when he or she passed away, it may have taken us to dark places, where support is needed more than ever, yet is not always available.

Giving You the Support and Empathy You Need

Studies show that individuals who are in grief due to pet loss are usually getting far less support and empathy than needed. This is because other people often don’t see pets as a real part of the family, and so don’t understand the amount of pain involved.

That’s why we decided to found “Paws and Memories.” We wanted to give a warm home to all those who need it. For anyone who has lost a pet and needs a kind ear and a warm heart. For anyone who is looking for a place to vent, get advice, or even just listen to another.

Over the course of a few months, we researched and read everything about grieving and, combining our master's degree in social science, finalized our core values based on a theory called “The dual process model of coping with bereavement.” With this we raised the banner of acceptance, empathy, balance and community.

So whether you are looking to get support or to give this to another, we are here to provide a non-judgmental home for all pet lovers.
